Nice of you to visit my website. That means that you are interested in an Australian Labradoodle. A super nice and especially sweet breed. First I will write how we came to the choice of the breed.
I am a huge animal lover and grew up with cats. After I met my current husband in 1985, we noticed that he had allergies to various animals. Added to this was asthma and hay fever and the picture was complete. Fortunately, he realized that an animal-free life would not be feasible for me and we looked for a reasonable way out. That became for us the Turkish Angoras, a super sweet breed with a canine character. Because this semi-longhair has no undercoat, the allergy was reasonably suppressable with medication.
But well, a dog that would be totally awesome. That dream had been on my mind for 40 years now. We had everything together 2 super nice sons and settled in the lovely Wormer. Meanwhile through the internet I found out that there was a breed that was specially bred for people with allergies who need an assistance dog. Of course we don't need a special need dog but a comrade for the family would be nice Anyway, I took the plunge and my hubby said that I would really like and enjoy it, of course everything selected in advance and looked at all the pros and cons.
He was of course a bit suspicious but wanted to go to various breeders to look and especially to cuddle. So we continue to see real Dutch first, then believe. Everyone can say that it is a hypo allergenic breed, but it remains a dog with her. We then went for the first acquaintance with Freonskip in Friesland. A small-scale breeder who introduced us to their dogs Skip and Fay in all warmth and dedication. We cuddled and put the questions there for 2 hours. Most importantly there was no airway allergic reaction, just a minor skin reaction where Skip had licked but that went away in a few minutes. Fortunately, the first reaction went completely well, and the dogs are so nice real curlers exactly what I imagine of a dog. To still have sufficient certainty, look at a private creature and at another breeder. And yes, green light for us. We are going to put ourselves on a waiting list. Only then you will find out what patience you need for a real Australian Labradoodle. On the marketplace you can find the regular Labradoodle (cross poodle and labrador), but if you suffer from allergies you still run a great risk. We did not want to take that risk and preferred to pay more, but with the certainty that if the allergy did not go well, the dog could go back to the breeder. Then let us put on the list of Nanja de Koning breeder Dog´s Paradise. She kept us informed about everything and on 28-4 we received a redeeming email that our puppy was born. Because we also noticed that there are long waiting lists and I have experience with breeding cats and Chinchillas, we decided after good consultation to become a breeder of this dog breed. After all, there is nothing more fun than experiencing a young life that will then lead to a wonderful life and is so desired by new owners, making people and animals happy in a good match.
We were able to get Mandy and let her grow up nicely. What I never expected has come true. February 16, a lady has even joined Sarah, you can read and follow everything about both dogs on their own magazine at the females.
An enrichment in our family and full of love and sunshine every day, I like to share this with others and let people get to know the dogs by appointment. In the future, the pack will slowly expand, we will get a few new dogs from home and abroad, but also keep a few own bred dogs, these will all be placed in a host family. At the moment the pack is growing well and already consists of several ladies and gentlemen who all have their own page at the dogs tab. We sell the puppies and if, in my opinion, there is a quality breeding dog, it will either go into our own pack (host family) as a future breeding dog or sold to another breeder.
Who could have thought that, at least not our kennel (bad word actually) has grown to a large amount, because of this I generally have a nice flow and a litter all year round. My vision is still that the puppies should grow up in the house, so we do that too, we have moved to the beautiful West-Friesland (not to be confused with Friesland) in the beautiful Wognum. A beautiful detached house and mega possibilities for the dogs we are going to renovate so that we will also have a maternity room later that the mothers can choose to have the bustle of the living room or the peace of the maternity room during the first 3 weeks of babyhood, every mother is different, but I do notice that they do not always appreciate the hustle and bustle with us, especially in the beginning. After all, we have people on the floor almost every day who want to get acquainted. And just like with people, in the beginning Rust, Cleanliness and Regularity have a great interest in the litters. Because we have no other hobbies and I work much less outside the door, there is always someone present with the little ones.
We are also going to create an indoor and outdoor playground for the babies that they can play safely without the buldozers of the big one and that we can let the big one play along. And of course they continue to run around the house to get used to all the noises and conditions of the household before going out into the wide world Of course, the big ones have a lovely garden of great size for them to romp and go crazy without breaking anything or hurting themselves.
As you read a wish that was first a dream and now has surpassed itself, I could never have imagined this and without the help of my golden team of host families that I am super grateful and that has become such a great club this would never have been the case can grow out. The best for and from the dogs and the love and passion from me combined in the Zaandoodles that will continue to be called that despite the move.
I regularly hear sounds from tjeminee you are big because you have so many dogs on the site. Yes, that's right, there are a lot of dogs on the site, those are all our dogs that I am very proud of and that together with our team have made the Zaandoodles a success or will hopefully make them. Because I have put so many dogs on the site, everyone will have to take a look because the pension dogs are no longer used but are the roots of some puppies or breeding dogs so that is nice to be able to view, and we also have quite a lot of upcoming talents that still need to be tested in the future
If you have few dogs, you have to use the dogs faster to meet your demand and idea, we can see when is a dog ready to be used, after all, not every dog is the same. There are dogs that are mature at 18 months, but also those that are only 24 months old. From 16 months you can have them covered according to the rules, but is the dog ready physically but certainly also mentally. If a dog needs longer work for recovery after delivery, we simply skip an extra heat because there are more dogs. A puppy that we keep and is still in test mode will therefore be on the site for about one and a half to 2 years without being used, so the list becomes quite long. At the top, dogs drop out due to age or maternity, or are rejected in a test, and must be topped up at the bottom.
I also have more males than most breeders so that I can set the bloodlines very nice and wide to get as little inbreeding percentage as possible, but a male has 1 small disadvantage getting pregnant itself is impossible. Most people use 1 male in 5 ladies , with us that is approximately 1 in 2 / 3 ladies . We try to keep the flow all year round because I just love watching the little ones grow up and the bigger ones develop We also have several litters at the same time, but I do that by looking at the mothers whether they can live together in our house, but also how big I expect the litters to be. Because a litter of 12 with a medium or standard doodle is just as much as 3 litters of a mini with only 4 puppies. A mini mama gets smaller litters and if they overlap each other then you can give them all enough attention to develop. The first 4 weeks you are only concerned with the basic things such as cleaning and paying attention and of course pampering and feeding the mother, only after that comes the development of the puppies and that is perfectly possible again with a newborn litter.
Is being a breeder all that great then? No not at all because the deliveries are usually in the night and start already 2 to 3 days before the puppies are actually there. The first 2 weeks you sleep next to it and you sleep very little because you are more awake than sleeping. Your e-mail but also administration must be in order. I still work side by side and when I'm not there another (husband) will have to be at home to watch and do the tasks. And then you can still have the bad luck that something happens and that a puppy or worse an entire litter and possibly mother dog dies.
Why do I keep doing it? To see the people who get a puppy go out the door with a radiant smile and to see as mega happy just as I feel every day, happy and very happy.
That is called a passion or vocation and it is different for everyone.
A profession with a passion that is it for me, this year I actually took the big step (with my family of course) and I became a real professional breeder. That means I've quit my job outside the home and can devote myself to the dogs 24-7. A mega dream with of course the dark sides, I don't have to feel guilty anymore if I can't be there to offer help because I'm just there now. I have also completed the training service dog and therapy dog supervisor/instructor, so that I can help people with certain fears and disorders with the use of our own dogs, but also help people train their own dog to what they need in daily life. to have a nice and good life. And really that is so beautiful, so full of happiness and so full of possibilities. I have created, created and seized these opportunities myself. I have had to give up a lot for them (still) but I get many times more in return. Do not confuse with a bread breeder because with me the dog is always number 1 and it will never be at the expense of any dog, hence professional breeder full of passion and joy.
Noticed that more and more dogs are showing quite anxious or unpredictable behavior and that makes me quite worried. We from the ZD breed for character and health and absolutely not for colour. You can indicate a preference, but keep in mind that you may have to wait a longer time. We all want the beautiful fashion image of the perfect red dog in the right size with a wave coat, but no one wants a dog in character in a few years time that needs help. Let go of the ideal image and look for the right character and health so that you have a great dog in your family for a long time
